Purr and Wag Society really needs your help right now in taking care of our dear, sweet, Heather. Can you spare $20 towards her surgery?

Heather has a very large polyp (or polyps) growing in her left ear. It needs to be surgically removed ASAP because it’s pressing on her inner ear causing her pain and dizziness. She is unable to walk more than a few steps without stumbling because of her instability. It’s also making it painful for her to open her mouth to eat so she’s having to be fed by syringe right now.

The surgeon won’t really know the extent of the problems until Heather is under anesthesia. They will do skull x-rays but she must be asleep and totally still for them to get good pictures. So, we won’t know the cost until the procedure starts. This hospital gives us a discount so the prices are much lower than we would get from any other surgeon qualified to perform this surgery. We need around $2000 still for this, which includes follow-up visits. With any luck it won’t cost quite as much as the estimate. If 100 people will each donate $20 then we’ll be set to get her scheduled for surgery ASAP. Or if 400 people will each donate $5…. Every donation is very much appreciated and is tax-deductible.

Heather’s right ear had this type of polyps in 2006. The surgery was performed, and those polyps were removed successfully with no evidence of re-growth. Unfortunately polyps are now growing in her left ear. Per the vet specialist, Siamese type cats have a genetic predisposition for these polyps. Heather’s father had them but he was not a good surgical candidate because of a liver mass that couldn’t be removed and was compromising his liver function. His polyps became cancerous and metastasized. We don’t want that to happen to Heather!

We are a small, all volunteer, 501(c)3, non-profit rescue organization caring for senior pets who have not been adopted for one reason or another. We are truly no-kill and only euthanize when it’s in the best interest of the pet due to an incurable or untreatable condition that is causing them to suffer. Our veterinary expenses are high and we can’t do it without you. Since the surgery IS a solution for these polyps we want to be able to provide that for Heather.

If we should be fortunate enough to get extra donations at this time we’ll set them aside for Heather’s future care or to help pay for veterinary expenses for some of the other kitties in our care.
